Debunking the Myths: Understanding Stuttering as a Speech Disorder

pierreroberge

Fear is really powerful.

It can make a person afraid of height, tremble when walking.

It can make a person afraid of dogs, run thought traffic, hide or climb behind an object paralyzed, cry in front of people, shout in fear.

Why couldn’t it tense the vocal cords of a person who stutters. Seeing this happen, why wouldn’t the person who stutters fell helpless and try to push syllables and words out forcefully displaying the symptoms of stuttering we can all recognize : elongating vowels, blockage on consonants, repetition of syllables.

Stuttering is a phobia and needs to be treated as such.
